Everybody who considers himself to be a serious mechanic, will be familiar with the phenomenon of "worn throttle shaft bores" and the need to correct that.

Reamer for over-sized 8mm throttle shafts

This phenomenon that manifests itself mainly in carburettors which have no shaft bearings and where a hardened steel, or bronze, shaft runs directly into the soft "Zamac" alloy body and where decades of use have worn out the bores which allow the shafts to move erratically thus making the carburettors virtually impossible to tune or set-up correctly.

Those throttle shafts are usually 8.0 mm in diameter.

For some carburettor models, this issue can be countered by replacing the shaft(s) with an over-sized 8.1 or even 8.2 mm version which will "absorb" the wear.

The challenge is then to ream the bore in the body casting to that 8.1 or 8.2 millimeter to make the thicker shaft fit the body.

For this purpose, we can now offer these reamers with a working length of roughly 65 mm which suffices for most carburettors but please check if this is enough for your carburettor.

In order to purchase the correct diameter for your shafts, please select it through the Diameter ? * menu right above the Add to cart button.

This product is priced and sold as a single unit.
